About Hilda Haarhoff

My interest in knitting started at the age of 12, as I got older this passion grew into a much enjoyable hobby which lead to making garments for friends and family particularly my children.

I decided to take on knitting as a career in 2000 and enrolled at Birmingham City University then called (UCE into a City and Guilds course in Art & Design, Machine Knitting, Creative Skills and followed by an OCN in Design & Fashion Knitwear for Machine Knitting at Solihull College. This enabled me to experiment with various kinds of yarns in different forms, particularly felting as it widened the prospects of what could be done with felted fabric such as applique embroidery and embellishing.

I am delighted to design and knit handcrafted pieces that I hope will bring you years of pleasure and comfort. The garments and accessories are contemporary and bespoke. Only high quality natural yarns are used, most of them spun in Scotland.

Hilda is often invited to speak and teach to machine knitters, guild clubs, art & design courses
and at various craft functions.

Hilda gives tuition in hand knitting, machine knitting.
